An anti-terrorism rally will be held Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. in front of the administration building.
Speakers will include representatives of the Muslim Student Association, the International Students Association, the Indian Students Association and International Programs Director, Calvin Allen.
The rally will focus on the role of unity within our university community and overcoming the effects of terrorism.
It will give students a chance to share feelings of shock, grief and outrage, as well as serve as an honorarium for the victims of the attack.
Non-denominational prayers will be recited and patriotic ribbons will be distributed to those who attend.
The rally was organized by the International Students Association, the Student Activities Council, the Muslim Student Association, the Jewish Student Association, Minority Affairs and the Black Student Association.
Parents Weekend, which was scheduled for this weekend at The University of Memphis has been cancelled.
The University called off the event because of the tragic attack on America and its profound effect on the nation.
According to Danny Armitage, director of residence life at The U of M, many parents had already called to cancel their plans because of their feelings of deep loss and fear of flying at this time.
Refunds will be given to all parents who had paid the registration fees in advance.
