An officer was dispatched to the Music Building in response to a theft call where he was advised by the building’s new manager that several items were missing from the building’s computer lab.
According to the police report, the manager told the officer the items had been missing since late April and no one had bothered to file a report. The manager then provided the officer with a list of the things missing and took the officer to the location from which the items had been taken.
The items were determined to be parts of a computer system and property loss was estimated at $8,000.
Wednesday, June 27
1:30 p.m.
An officer responded to an assault call in the parking lot of The University of Memphis’ Child Care Center. Once at the scene, the officer discovered two women fighting over what appeared to be baby clothes.
The victim told the officer the other female had taken off her shoe and thrown it at her, striking the victim on the left side of the head and causing a severe laceration. According to the police report, the victim had a towel covering the laceration and was bleeding profusely.
The victim was transported to Baptist East for medical treatment. The assailant was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.
A clean-up crew was called to the scene to clean up the large amount of blood at the scene.
Tuesday, July 3
5:08 a.m.
Officers received a call from dispatch concerning a fight at 3882 Tiger Paw where they were approached by two men. One of the men advised officers he confronted the other man because he suspected he was responsible for stealing his Spanish textbook.
According to reports, both men appeared to have injuries from the confrontation and both refused to prosecute.
One of the men was not a University of Memphis student and was advised by officers that he’d been placed on trespass status.
