On routine patrol, an officer observed a woman and man involved in an altercation on the east side of Rawls Hall. When the officer approached, he noticed the man’s shirt was ripped. The officer separated the two and spoke to them individually. Both parties advised the officer that they had been dating for seven months and had earlier become involved in an argument. Both parties also admitted to grabbing one another during the argument, but said no punches were thrown. Officers advised the two students to stay away from each other for the remainder of the night and to contact Police Services if either needed to gather belongings from the other’s dorm room. Both are students at The U of M, and both currently live on campus. Officers have since turned the matter over to Judicial Affairs.

An officer observed a woman sleeping on a bench on the west side of the McWherter Library. The officer approached the individual and asked her if she had any identification. The woman told the officer she did not have any identification and could not provide information as to where she lived. Upon further questioning, the woman provided the officer with a name that proved to be false. According to the report, the woman became evasive and sarcastic in response to routine questioning.
The officer then took the woman into custody. After detaining the suspect, officers searched the her purse and located a social security card, passport and birth certificate, which provided officers with the identity of the individual. A check of the name showed the woman to have an outstanding felony warrant for forgery.
The individual told officers she was a student at The U of M, but a check of the current and past student rosters did not list her as being enrolled at The University. She was transported by the MPD to the city jail and has been placed on trespass status for The U of M.
