Women's Tennis
The U of M women's tennis team fell to 9-9 on the season with a 6-1 loss to No. 67 Long Beach State in final match of the Lady Tigers road swing Sunday.
Memphis claimed the doubles point from the nationally ranked 49ers when the duo of Christina Ladyman and Sabrina Lindemann won an exciting No. 1 doubles match, 9-8.
The score of the tiebreaker was 11-9 Memphis.
The No. 2 team of Betsy Card and Annika Westberg also downed their LBSU opponents 8-5.
The Lady Tigers were 0-3 on the Texas swing, after playing two nationally ranked teams in the span of three days at El Paso.
Memphis will travel to Little Rock to face University of Arkansas at Little Rock Wednesday on their final regular season road trip.
The Lady Tigers then wrap up the season at home against Cincinnati and University of Alabama at Birmingham, April 13-14, before traveling to Hattiesburg for the league championships on April 9th.
Men's Tennis
The University of Memphis men's tennis team (10-7) finished in second place with a 4-3 loss to Conference USA foe Southern Miss in the championship match of the 22nd annual Amateur Classic at University of California-Irvine Sunday.
The Tigers were edged for the doubles point when the team of Mikka Kangas an Nicolas Carterat downed the team of Michael and Joe Schmulian in the tiebreaker, 9-8.
Schmulian then took both his singles sets to tie-break before falling 7-6, 7-6 to Daniel Homedas.
Memphis will get a peek at the courts where the Conference USA Championships are being held when they travel to New Orleans to face the University of New Orleans and Lamar at Tulane University.
The Conference's championships begin April 19th.
Memphis has one homestead remaining on its schedule -- a match against Louisiana-Monroe and Murray State University April 13.
