Memphis bands rarely get the credit they deserve, and no where is this more obvious than with RubberSoul.
Influenced by such legendary acts as The Beatles and Stevie Ray Vaughn, RubberSoul creates their own brand of music, which they've deemed "Blues Rock Pop."
It's a good definition, and their sound combines a variety of styles. A quick listen to some of their tunes will impress even the most cynical rock fan.
An addictive mix of blues and rock, RubberSoul's music is strong all across the board. From solid bass lines, to pronounced guitar riffs, to enjoyable harmonica parts, to bold and powerful vocals, you can't go wrong with this band.
Their current release, Filet of Soul, is full of catchy, enjoyable tunes. All the songs have a distinct, likeable quality, but a few rank above the rest.
Two of the real standouts are the jumpy, appealing "My Back Yard" and "Letting Go," a powerful blues number with an almost haunting quality.
The songs are memorable and easily wind up stuck in your head after a listen or two.
"Tumbleweed" is a slow-paced, bluesy number with an infectious guitar. On "Time to Time," RubberSoul serves up a delightfully unique beat.
Perhaps, the lyrics to "Back to Bed" say it best: "I didn't write this song to steer you wrong/If nothing else this much I know." And steer you wrong, they won't.

You can catch them in concert Saturday, April 7, at Archie's Rock and Roll Cafe.
