Football

Tim Banks is the last person to round out University of Memphis head football coach Tommy West's staff.

He has been hired as the outside linebacker coach.

He has coached the defensive backs at Bowling Green State University since January of 1999.

Men's Basketball

The University of Memphis men's basketball team suffered a crucial 56-65 Conference USA loss to Louisville and another 55-74 loss to Southern Miss.

Kelly Wise had the pleasure of being awarded the honor of being named to the C-USA first team.

Wise has led Memphis's resurgence by being one of the most consistent; and dominant front court players in the league this season.

The 6-10 junior leads C-USA with 14 double-doubles of this season, and is the only player in the league to average a double-double.

Wise was a third-team all-league pick last season.

The men's team has also received a bye in the OCG C-USA tournament.

The Tigers (16-3) will face the winner of Wednesday's first-round game between Marquette and Tulane.

Tip-off for the quarterfinal is slated for 9:30 p.m. eastern time, they head into the tournament as the number four seed.

In addition to Cincinnati, Southern Miss, and Memphis, Charlotte receives a first-round bye as the No. 3 seed.

Women's Basketball

Tiffany Adkins and Princess Swilley received C-USA honors.

Adkins was named to the first team averaging 18.3 points and has posted seven doubles-doubles this season.

Swilley was named to the All Freshman team.

In the C-USA tournament this past weekend the women lost a third round battle to Houston 80-74.

Adkins led in scoring with 19 points.
