Senior Alistair Todd brings an international flair for success to the men's tennis team.
This fall, Todd advanced to the finals in the season's first tournament.
Injuries sidelined him from the tournament, but he still executed an impressive 5-3 in singles play and was 2-2 in doubles with sophomore Ben Stapp through the fall season.
In the Spring of 2000, Todd finished 11-11 in singles competition.
Playing the majority of the season, Todd had a winning streak of five matches while playing at the No. 3 slot.
Teamed along once again with Ben Stapp, team Stapp-Todd played no. 1 in doubles play, finishing with an astounding 20-6 record.
This dynamic duo played six nationally- ranked doubles teams, unseating No.4 team Jung/Dalby (UAB) in the conference tournament.
During the fall of 1999, Todd faced nationally-ranked competition including Ole Miss and Troy State.
He finished the fall season with a 3-5 final score.
Teamed with Richard Magney, Todd finished with a doubles record of 13-9.
This was the only team that competed in No. 1 doubles for the Tigers during the spring of 1999.
As a freshman, Todd earned a record of 13-6.
He played in the No. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 positions, seeing the most action in position No. 2 doubles, where he went 15-7.
His overall record for the spring 1998 season was 16-8.
Todd is a transfer student from the 'down under' University of West Australia.
Prior to attending the University of West Australia, Todd was undefeated from 1993-1995 in school tennis matchups.
He was also the recipient of the prestigious Slazenger Cup in 1994 and 1995.
Todd was the West Australian hardcourt open doubles champion, and won crowns in the singles competition in both 16- and 18-year-old age groups.
He achieved all this success on the tennis court while editing his school magazine, playing soccer, swimming on the school swim team and being a member of the school debate team.
The Tigers leave for sunny Southern California on Friday for tournament play in Irvine, Calif. This will be the final conference appearance for Memphis before the C- USA tournaments in New Orleans April 19-22.
