3 p.m.
An officer responded to a report of verbal assault at the Psychology Building. He met a U of M staff member, who told the officer a male student entered the room late, talking on his mobile phone, angry and unruly. According to police reports, the man approached the instructor and asked her if she would help him. The instructor told the officer the student had not been to class all semester. According to the report, the student lunged at the instructor and threatened her. The instructor left the room and called public safety. The officer searched the Psychology Building, but did not find the male student.
Thursday, March 1
11:30 a.m.
A female student entered police services to report that another student had threatened to kill her. The reporting student said she was a desk worker in Smith Hall, and while working that morning, she was approached by a male student. The male student threatened the desk worker regarding his girlfriend the, former roommate of the desk worker. The desk worker called the resident adviser to the desk for assistance. The resident adviser witnessed the verbal assault on the desk worker, and said there was no physical contact between the male student and the desk worker. The desk worker was given directions on how to proceed if she wanted to file charges or apply for a restraining order and was notified Judicial Affairs would receive a copy of the report.
Sunday, March 4
4 a.m.
An officer responded to the Southern parking lot about a in regard to a call concerning the smashed car window of a male student. The student told the officer he had come home and parked his car in the lot at approximately 2:40 a.m. When he returned to his car, he found that the left passenger's side window and its rear window had been smashed. He also told the officer someone had entered the car through the trunk, and property estimated at $850 was missing. Damage to the car was estimated at $500.
Monday, March 5
1:14 p.m.
When an officer responded to a theft report in the Tiger Den , he spoke to a man who told him a student had swapped out a pizza after receiving a refund, then walked through the check-out without paying. The man told the officer he had heard the student tell the cashier he had swapped them out, then the student entered the eating area. The man told the officer the student refused to show his identification. After the student was detained by the officer, the man opted not to press charges. The student was identified and released and the situation was resolved.
