Wednesday, February 21

12:02 a.m.

An officer responded to a disturbance call at the Tiger Paw apartments. The officer was met by a man who stated several women had been arguing and had just left the area.

The man said one of the females had some sort of knife. According to the report, no blows were exchanged. The parties involved in the disturbance left in different vehicles.

A small knife was found in the courtyard area and tested for fingerprints. No fingerprints were found on the knife, which was held as evidence. A female student living in the apartments stated some females had come to her apartment and asked for one of her friends.

The friend, a non-student, went out to speak with the females. The confrontation occurred outside the apartment. The female student living in the apartment said she did not go outside during the disturbance, and she and her friend said they knew the other parties involved.

The resident said she did not how the parties knew where she lived, because she had only seen them off-campus. The resident and her friend were advised to call police services if the parties returned.

The officer noted the entrance gate to Tiger Paw was broken.

Saturday, February 24

1:15 a.m.

An officer observed a Chevrolet Camaro running the red light at the intersection of Highland and Park, traveling at a high rate of speed.

The car continued north, running the red light at the intersection of Spottswood and Highland. The officer turned on his lights and sirens at this point.

The Camaro was slowed down by the traffic at Southern and Highland. As the light turned green, the car continued north on Highland across the railroad tracks and pulled into a parking space at the Circle K Station. The officer approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The officer noticed a strong smell of beer and mouthwash, so he conducted several field sobriety tests, which the driver failed.

Metro D.U.I. responded to the scene and conducted more field sobriety tests. The driver submitted to a blood alcohol content test and registered a 0.146 level.

While searching the car, the officer found two drug pipes in the of the car. Both pipes contained residue that smelled like marijuana.

The driver of the Camaro was taken to 201 Poplar.

Saturday, February 24

4:05 a.m.

Officers observed a GMC Sierra truck stopped in the center lane of Poplar east of Highland. When officers approached the vehicle, they found the driver unconscious in his seat. When the officers woke the man up, the man let the truck roll into the U of M police car.

The man was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech, had bloodshot eyes and smelled of intoxicants. The driver was given a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

The Memphis Police Department responded to the scene and gave the driver a blood alcohol content test. The driver registered a 0.156 blood alcohol level, and was taken to 201 Poplar.

Tuesday, February 27

7:47 p.m.

A female student reported that while she was standing near the pay phone in the lobby of Manning Hall, a male ran up to her and grabbed her purse off of her left shoulder. The man ran out of the building down the west side.

The female was shaken, but not injured, according to the police report. The suspect has not been found.
