There is a mounting energy surrounding the Tiger's football program, and sophmore Darche Epting is one of the many key players involved in the team's predestined success.
Epting's high school highlights set the stage for what is sure to be an impressive career in the following season.
Epting was redshirted during the 1998 season, but performed in a mighty way in 1999.
He totaled 35 carries for 99 yards, earning his first varsity letter.
He recorded the team's first blocked kick of the season against the Bulldogs, and was used as a blocking back but did not register a carry or pass reception and was the fourth leading rusher in the Spring scrimmages.
Epting was the fullback for the Arkansas State and Tulane victories and was named Memphis's special teams player of the game for his work against Mississippi State.
Epting has a bright future in the world of football and has a winner's attitude concerning the future of the team. "We want to turn the program around," Epting said of himself and his fellow teammates.
His goal is simple: To do whatever it takes to win the conference.

Epting prepped at Bishop Lynch high school in Dallas, Texas and was a standout athlete.
He rushed for a total of 1761 yards in 1997 and caught 23 passes for 360 yards and threw one touchdown pass.
Epting led his team to its third state championship in four years their record that year was 39-10.
He was named the most valuable player of both the state semifinals and the championship game in 1997.
He also set the school record for rushing yards in a game with 278.
Epting was an all-district MVP and all-region Blue Chip All-State selection in 1997.
To add to his list of accomplishments he was listed by Max Emfinger as the number nine power back in the southeast.
His prep career stats read 2,775 rushing with 30 touchdowns, 330 yards receiving and 41 total career scores.
Epting lettered in track as a shot putter and also lettered in baseball and weightlifting and was a member of Bishop Lynch's competitive power lifting team.
