So the man or woman of your dreams said "yes." Now what?
Taking your date out to eat is probably the next step.
University of Memphis students, such as freshman sales major Brad Compton, have a wide variety of restaurants where they can entertain their dates.
"I would take my date to Folk's Folly," Compton said. "They cook up a mean slab of red meat. It's also expensive and romantic -- girls like that."
Folk's Folly is a steakhouse two and a half miles from campus. The restaurant's least expensive entree is $18.50, while it's most expensive is $39.50.
Freshman video and film production major Sian Crouther said he wants his date to feel like a queen.
"If my pockets permit, I would take her somewhere nice, like Houston's," Crouther said. "I'm a fool for a woman."
Houston's host Mary Jaynes said the restaurant is also two and a half miles from The U of M, and its entree prices range from $7 to $24.
"Houston's has also won the Best Service Award for ten years in a row," Jaynes said.
Senior commercial music major Ben Diles said he suggests taking dates to Italian restaurants.
"The allure of Italian restaurants shows the girl that you're serious about impressing her," Diles said.
Women at The U of M, such as sophomore psychology major Meghan Pattison, also had ideas of where they would plan on going for a dinner date.
"I wouldn't even want to go to a restaurant," Pattison said. "I would rather a guy take me on a picnic so we could talk and push each other on the swings."
"I would want to go anywhere downtown to eat and then get dessert at the Cafe Expresso," sophomore student Kelly Stewart said.
Cafe Expresso manager Sheila Johnson said the coffee shop specializes in serving desserts and coffees.
"Our most popular dessert is the white chocolate charlotte," Johnson said. "And we get very busy at night."
Cafe Expresso's desserts are priced from $4.75 to $5.80 and the restaurant is located in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel on Third Street.
