The Lady Tigers lost to Conference USA rival Louisville last Friday evening on the road.
Senior Kelly Herron led Memphis in scoring with 17 points, making a 6-13 effort from the field. Herron hit five three pointers, which kept the Tigers in the game.
Her five treys serve as the most threes in a game this season from a Lady Tiger, and also tied her sophomore performance when she hit five threes against Tulane.
Senior Patrice Boyd and sophomore Deanna Farr followed Herron, with seven points a piece.
The Lady Tigers turned the ball over 19 times in the first half.
While Louisville shot 48.5 percent from the field and was 9-22 from behind the arc, the Cardinals forced The Lady Tigers to turn the ball over 26 times, scoring 28 points off of takeaways. Louisville also outrebounded Memphis 44-37
After this crucial loss, 88-62, the Lady Tigers fell 10-10 and 3-6 in conference play.
The University of Memphis Lady Tiger basketball team suffered another tough loss when they were defeated 71-58 by the University of Cincinnati Bearcats last Sunday evening.
Tiffany Adkins scored 17 points, but it proved not to be enough in the contest.
The Bearcats shot 53 percent from the field for the second time this season, holding the Lady Tigers to only 32 percent -- their second lowest percentage of the year.
The Bearcat defense dominated the first 20 minutes of play. They created 12 turnovers and held the Lady Tigers to 29 percent shooting. Cincinnati led 30-25 at halftime.
Adkins had seven points ands six rebounds in the first half, but was held to 3-9 shooting because of Cincinnati's relentless defense.
UC led by at least 11 in the second half, 42-31, before Memphis decided to make a run.
The Lady Tigers got consecutive baskets from Kelly Herron to bring them within six with 15 minutes remaining.
Cincinnati increased the lead to as many as 16 (64-48) with 2:30 left in the contest after a flurry of 3-pointers off the bench from Merlena Dozier.
Memphis cut the deficit to 10 with a little over a minute remaining, but was unable to get any closer.
Freshman Erin Hostetler registered her second career double double with a team high of 13 points and 11 rebounds. She was one of four Bearcats in double figures.
This helped UC improve their record to 15-7 and 5-6 in conference play, while Memphis dropped to 10-11 and 3-7 in C-USA.
Adkins was the high scorer for Memphis. Melissa Abraham contributed with 9 rebounds and Kelly Herron finished with 13 points.
The Lady Tigers return to action when on Feb. 9th when they take on St. Louis in "The Jungle."
