If you're looking for love, the Baptist Student Union is the place to be Friday night.
The entire student body of The University of Memphis has been invited to the BSU's Mr. and Miss Mismatch 2001.
For $5, one is catered and served a meal from Gridley's Barbecue.
But according to the BSU, the evening will be more than just food and fellowship with others. Students who arrive early may place their name into the Love Machine. A series of questions will match each person up with someone to sit across from at dinner, and be his or her match -- or mismatch -- of the evening.
Sophomore Tim Auld, an art education major, said he is really excited about the benefits of the Love Machine.
"I am really excited about the love machine because some girl will be really lucky to get hooked up with me," Auld said. "Because I'm hot!"
In addition to the Love Machine, there will be an updated version of the Dating Game, as well as other games. However, the big event of the evening, according to BSU president Redd Willis, is a musical performance from the Jitters, who Willis called a unique boy band group comparable to N'Sync and Boyz II Men.
"They had some excellent references and a very nice manager, who choreographed and designed all their wardrobes," Willis said.
Emily Shephard, a music business sophomore, said the group is worth hearing.
"You can't describe the music," she said. "You just have to come hear them."
Willis said he hopes the whole campus will come out.
"It's a fun time to meet new people and enjoy some good food," Willis said.
