Wednesday, Jan. 17
8:30 P.M.
An officer responded to a call from Rawls Hall and was advised there by a male that his ex-girlfriend had contacted him by letter and e-mail/instant messaging in violation of an order of protection.
The instant message was received at his apartment. The only evidence the man could provide the officer was the release order of the suspect which grants limited protection.
The officer advised him to seek a permanent order against the suspect. A report was filed with the Memphis Police Department.
Thursday, Jan. 18
4:32 A.M.
An officer was driving westbound on Midland when he observed a vehicle in the backyard of 3625 Midland.
A witness approached the officer and said the vehicle had run through the fence. The officer drove around to the back and observed the vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. The truck swerved, nearly striking a telephone pole.
The suspects were stopped by police and the driver and passenger were asked to exit the vehicle. The officers noticed the suspects smelled of intoxicants, had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and were unsteady on their feet.
Metro D.U.I. made the scene and tested the driver, who registered a .131 blood alcohol content.
Friday, Jan. 19
1:57 A.M.
An officer on routine patrol near Highland and Midland observed a beige Infiniti J30 moving northbound on Highland without the use of headlights. After stopping the car and encountering the defendant, the officer detected a strong presence of toxins, which were determined to be alcohol. The suspect's eyes also appeared to be red and watery.
The suspect had a cast on his foot, which limited his ability to perform several of the field sobriety tests.
A finger to nose test was administered, which the defendant failed. The suspect refused to submit to a blood alcohol test and was transported to the Criminal Justice Center.
Tuesday, Jan. 23
7:25 P.M.
Officers responded to Richardson Towers South after a person reported smelling marijuana.
When they arrived, they were met by the reporting person and two witnesses. The officers could smell smoke coming from the room.
The officers knocked on the door and entered the room after the resident opened the door.
When they entered, the resident and one other person were in the room. The officers told the resident the reason for their arrival and asked to search the room.
After the resident gave the officers permission and signed the consent, the officers found 10 sandwich bags with what appeared to be marijuana residue in them and a very small amount of leafy substance and seeds that also appeared to be marijuana.
All evidence was confiscated and tagged.
