Officers with the Department of Public Safety responded to a possible domestic situation at Rawls Hall. On arrival, they met with a man and three witnesses.
The victim said he met with a woman at his off-campus residence at 2:30 p.m., and broke off their relationship. At that time, the victim said, the suspect threw a pie and a coffee mug at the wall.
The victim then called the Memphis Police Department, but the officer did not take a report. The victim said the suspect left a check for $100 to cover the damages, but returned again at 11:30 p.m., tore up a stuffed animal and damaged the apartment's glass door.
Later, at 1:30 a.m., the suspect assaulted the victim outside of Rawls Hall -- pushing, punching and kicking him.
The suspect also kicked the victim's car door several times.
The victim said he did not try to defend himself, and at one point was on the ground while the suspect kicked him.
Three witnesses came forward and said they heard the verbal altercation and watched as the suspect assaulted the victim. Two officers went to the suspect's room and took her into custody for assault and vandalism.
The suspect was taken to Police Services, then transferred to jail by the Memphis Police Department.
