From a shaky start to a final margin of 19 points, the Tigers made the most of their second and final exhibition game.
After taking the tip and scoring the first basket of the game, Memphis lost the lead to Team Georgia and did not regain it until there were less than five minutes left in the first half.
"I take blame for (the slow start) myself," Calipari said. "I want to start every game going to the post, but they were taking jumpshots. It was a good lesson for me and them."
With 4:28 left in the first half, junior guard John Grice nailed a three pointer to take the lead.
The lead flip-flopped between teams for about a minute until Shamel put in two from the post. He was fouled during the play and sank his free throw.
Memphis ended the half on a high point as senior guard Marcus Moody hit a buzzer-beating three pointer to end the half 47-35. It was a deficit Georgia would not make up.
During the second half Georgia never got closer than five points from the Tigers.
Memphis played steady for the remainder and closed the game 88-69 before a crowd 6,984.
"I still don't know what to think," Calipari said. "Trask and Wise played well, but we didn't execute as well as I would have liked."
Despite his criticisms, Calipari said he is enjoying himself.
"This has been an enjoyable three and a half weeks," Calipari said, "for me to see the growth."
