Tiger Sports Roundup: Women's Basketball 11/14

University of Memphis women's basketball coach Joye Lee-McNelis announced today the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent for the 2001-02 Lady Tiger squad.

The four signees hail from four different states as McNelis signed Latrice Booker of Winnfield, La., Jeralynn Campbell of Thonotosassa (Tampa), Fla., Jennifer Sullivan of Jonesboro, Ark., and Raven Rogers of Jackson, Miss.

Rogers is the sister of current Lady Tiger Tamika Rogers who is out for the 2000-01 season with a torn ACL that she suffered in preseason drills.

Booker and Campbell were the first two players to ink with the Lady Tigers, signing on the first day of the early signing period. Booker, a 6-2 center/forward, prepped at Winnfield High School where she is a two-time all-district honoree.

Campbell was the second player to sign with the Lady Tigers, signing her letter of intent Wednesday afternoon. A 6-2 post player, Campbell averaged 20 points, 14 rebounds and 13 blocked shots last year as a junior at Armwood High School outside of Tampa, Fla.

Sullivan waited a day to sign with the Lady Tigers, inking her name on Thursday. A 5-10 forward/guard, Sullivan has lettered three years at Jonesboro High School where she averaged 15.0 points and 5.4 rebounds as a junior. Sullivan is a former all-state and all-conference honoree. She was selected as a McDonald's Shootout Player of the Game and is a three-time Best Under the Sun pick by the Jonesboro Sun.

Rogers was the last of the four to sign with the Lady Tigers. A 5-10 guard, Rogers is expected to step in and take the place of Kelly Herron, who is currently one of the Lady Tigers' most impressive outside shooting threats. Rogers, who prepped at Murrah High School in Jackson, Miss., has led her squad to three straight state championships.
