The Tigers traveled to Puerto Rico over the holiday to compete in the Puerto Rico Shootout, leaving with a 1-3 record.
Memphis defeated Miami (Ohio) 60-59 Thursday to advance to semifinals the next day, taking on fifth-ranked Stanford.
The larger Stanford team (3-0) overpowered the Tigers, and went to the free throw line 40 times due to Memphis fouls.
Kelly Wise was the high scorer for Memphis with 21 points. The Tigers shot just 36 percent from the field and were outrebounded, 46-26.
Memphis's final match also ended in a loss to 13-ranked Utah in the consolation game.
Jeff Johnson's tip in the final minute cemented the Utes' 61-58 victory and third place in the shootout.
Wednesday, the Tigers will take on UT-Martin at the Pyramid at 7 p.m.
