This time next week it will be all over!
There should be no trace of homemade commercials for individuals running for Congress representing the such and such district, or any mud-slinging commercials concerning what Gore or Bush did or did not do.
The votes should be cast and tallied, and we should have a pretty good idea of who the next president of the United States will be for at least the next four years.
Who will win?
I really don't know. Right now you could probably toss a coin and have as good a chance of guessing.
But I'd rather focus on the constituents (that's us) rather than the candidates.
What have we done lately?
Have you cast your vote yet? Do you plan to vote on Tuesday?
I hope the answer is yes.
I hear a lot of complaining about the individuals who are in office, but I don't see a lot of activism from those people doing something about what they really want to happen.
It's honestly down right discouraging.
Most of us have probably seen the polls (which I have no idea whatsoever who they poll or when they poll, or even how they poll). The polls are confusing to say the least. One day Bush is ahead, the next minute Gore is ahead, and of course you have got to figure in the plus and minus percentage points in the margin of error.
So what's a voter to do?
Who is the best candidate?
What conclusions have been drawn from the debates, the baby kissing, the state hopping and the mud-slinging ads?
In dealing with politics, and with people on a general basis, this thing could come right down to one vote.
I have to say it has been a long ride and the voters are truly hanging on until the end. But are we voting for the best candidate, the lesser of the evils or whomever we feel like at the time.
All things considered, the young voters are probably more like a flock of lost sheep looking for a shepherd. The older voters seem to know who are they are voting for, but it has been embedded in them for a while now.
Whether it be a vote for the Democrats, the Republicans, the Green Party or whomever, please know it is your duty and your privilege to vote. It is a must that you vote.
When you go to the polls remember that you won't just be voting for the President and vice-president, you'll also be voting for some of your local politicians that can make a big difference concerning Memphis.
Exercise your right to vote, or please do not complain.
