According to police reports, a student in the Smith Chemistry building turned his back to a chair where his jacket -- holding his wallet -- was hanging, and it was stolen.
The victim called Police Services, reported the theft and an officer took his information.
Minutes later, the victim saw the man he believed stole his jacket and called Police Services again.
When officers arrived, they met with the victim and the alleged thief.
The victim told officers his wallet was in the opposite pocket from the one he had placed it in and $10 were missing.
The victim said he would like to prosecute the man, and the officers told him he had the authority as a private citizen to place the suspect under arrest since they did not see the theft.
The victim placed the man under arrest and transferred the citizen to the officers.
The accused was transported to the Division of Police and served with a misdemeanor citation.

9:28 p.m.
A Richardson Towers North resident reported a burglary. The victim said between Sept. 23 and Nov. 6 someone entered her room and stole her computer and printer. There were no witnesses or signs of forcible entry. The victim said she had not lived in her dorm room since Sept. 23, and had come to the room to pick up the remainder of her belongings. Loss was estimated at $1,000.

12:16 p.m.
An officer with the campus police noticed a car with the passenger side window broken out when he was on routine patrol. Upon further investigation, the officer found a stereo missing from the dash. The car owner arrived on the scene around 12:30 p.m. and went through the vehicle, but found nothing else missing. Loss was estimated at $400.

3:42 p.m.
A woman in a South Campus residence hall reported a theft to campus police. When officers arrived, the victim said three bicycles were on the balcony of her apartment when she left, but one was missing when she got home. Loss was estimated at $89.

9:25 a.m.
An officer with Police Services was dispatched to the South Lot. Upon arrival, he met with a woman who stated she was behind the print shop when a man in a vehicle approached her and asked directions to the Mall of Memphis.
The victim offered the directions and the man asked her to write them down on a piece of paper. When the victim approached the man with the directions, he exposed his penis to her and masturbated.
The victim said she did not feel there was anything questionable about the suspect at first because he had a child in the back seat of his vehicle. The victim also said before he approached her, she noticed another woman talking with the suspect.
