Letter to the Editor: We are making a conscious decision to ignore the truth

It is amazing that suddenly Muslims begin standing up for their "victimized brothers." In Israel, they claim, Jews commit genocide against their Palestinian brethren. In addition to questioning the validity of this statement, we must ask -- where were all the Muslims when Iraq killed Kurds by the thousands? Where were they when Hafez Assad killed thousands of his Muslim brethren? Where were they when Bosnians killed thousands of their Muslim brethren? Where were they when Iran and Iraq used chemical weapons and nerve gas on civilians? Where were they when Iraq invaded Kuwait and raped their women and stole their gold? Where were they when the Russian military killed Afghanis? Where were they when the Palestinians executed people who were perceived as aiding the enemy? Where are they when the Palestinians send their children to the front lines, knowing they are risking their lives?

Muslims who claim to be committed to their brethren are still committing these atrocities, but aren't taking responsibility for them. Yes, there are Israeli radicals. They are dead, in jail, or outlawed. They are viewed as criminals by Israeli society. The Muslim world, conversely, sees their dead radicals as martyrs. They are viewed as heroes, and revered by their people.

We are making a conscious decision to ignore the truth here. We have a responsibility to stay informed, to create our own decisions and realize the truth.
