I have a simple request to ask of the students that cross Central: Please do not use the turning lane as your own personal sidewalk! I think that it is a bit ironic that the students going to the Law and Business schools have the biggest problem following the most simple of rules. If you have to cross the street, use the crosswalk. I do not want to be witness to an accident.
Just think what your parents would go through. "My child was smart enough to go to college but dumb enough to step out in front of a moving vehicle."
I drive a small car with just four cylinders. My car is not very threatening. When I see the rows of people lined up in the turning lane meant for my car, I suddenly wish I were driving something with a big block with a four barrel. Now I know how the Blues Brothers felt when they wanted to cross the bridge covered in Nazis.
I realize the inconvenience of having to walk a little farther to get to your destination. There have been many discussions on the problems and possible solutions to Central's pedestrian problems. All I ask is for you not to contribute to the problem; stay out of the turning lane.
