Letter to the editor: Pouncer's costume is in terrible shape

I find it ridiculous that the "Pouncer/Bouncer" mascot costume is in the condition that it is. Can The University not afford to buy a new one? I have watched the current tiger for three years now and see what a wonderful job he does in entertaining the crowd.

He is by far one of the most entertaining and visual icons of The University. It is a shame that he has to walk around in such a ragged costume. You can see where the fur has rubbed off which has left unsightly white marks in its place. The feet are a different color from the rest of the costume not to mention that they are falling apart. The nose piece that separates the average person from seeing the man inside the suit is falling out- Does this University not care about the image of the mascot?

I know that I personally would like to thank Kevin for the great job that he has done entertaining the crowd these last three years -- I do not think that he gets the credit that he deserves. He is taken for granted and I think this is a shame. If we can afford to pay someone to come to men's basketball games and do some flips at half time, we can afford to buy the school mascot a brand new costume. Is our mascot not enough entertainment for the crowd that we have to pay to bring in someone from the outside to do his work? If The University thinks this is the case, then maybe we should not have a mascot at all. I think it is a crying shame that The University wants to bring in another mascot.

Kevin is all we need and if we don't start recognizing what a great job he is doing, we may lose one of the best mascots we have had. WISE UP U OF M. RECOGNIZE WHAT YOU HAVE!
