I want to discuss the new mail service that we will be receiving at U of M. They are going to put all the mail boxes in the UC and charge residents $15 a semester to receive mail on campus. I hate this idea. First off, I never go in the UC, I don't want to have to walk across campus just to get my mail.
They say it's because of mail safety, but the thing I say is that people have certain things to deal with no matter what they do. At home people get mail once a day and there is always a possibility that someone will take your mail. Things aren't different on campus; it is your home away from home.
This is just another way to take more money from the already broke college students and cause unnecessary confusion and hardship to residents.
They already charge for bad parking, now mail, what next -- are we going to have to pay a toll charge to use our restrooms? University of Memphis needs to leave the mail system the way it is before they don't have residents to send mail to.
