Letter to the Editor: As far as I'm concerned, we won one hell of a game Saturday morning!

This past Saturday morning I witnessed an Epic in the making. Through the mud, rain, sound and fury our University of Memphis football team did all that they could (do) to win that game. The sight that defined the moment was this huge Memphis linebacker with what may as well have been sweat as well as rain dripping from his helmet with his arms outstretched suppliantly asking us for support.

It was fourth down with barely five minutes left in the game and we were about to try for a field goal or punt it ... Scherer went for it and we scored a touchdown.

Saturday Memphis, Tennessee felt like a college town, and I loved every minute of it. I did leave the game feeling gray. However, it was not because we didn't give Tennessee a fight. We gave them a fight didn't we? I know we did!

I went to the game by myself but while I was there I ran into some old friends that I have not seen since I was a freshman here. They welcomed me in and we all cheered our team together. It didn't matter that I was black and they were white. None of that mattered. It felt good.

It was cold, damp and uncertain out there ... none of this mattered!

I just want every Tiger player out there to know ... we love y'all! I want every one of you Memphis fans out here to give these guys a round of applause. As far as I'm concerned, we won one hell of a game Saturday morning! We got in that ass didn't we? Let our athletes know tha bizness (sic) !!! Let them know that we support them and that we love them!

We're a winner and everybody knows it TOO! We got another game this week so let's build on the momentum and LET'S GO BABY! GO TIGERS GO!!!
