Thanksgiving is over and for many the countdown to Christmas has begun. In the spirit of the season, The Daily Helmsman presents its wish list for The University of Memphis:
1. A presidential search committee that gives equal weight to all members' views and places priority on finding the best candidate, regardless of public opinion.
2. A president with the energy and vision to help a university still struggling with low self-esteem.
3. A less apathetic studybody more involved in their university.
4. A Student Government Association that more accurately represents the makeup of The University and is a more vocal force in working for their constituents.
5. A football coach with the class of Rip Scherer and the winning ways of Vince Lombardi.
6. A budget that gives the faculty and staff the resources to provide the best services and education possible for our students.
7. A city that supports the academic side of The University as generously as it does the Tiger football and basketball teams.
8. A third-tier ranking in U.S. News and World Report's annual college issue.
9. Parking.
10. Saturday mail delivery for students who live on campus.
11. An arsenal of Red Ryder BB guns to help drive off flashers and car thieves.
