An officer with the Department of Public Safety noticed a man dragging a box down Central Ave. in front of the Engineering Building. The officer stopped the man, who claimed he had found the box -- with a computer in it -- on Southern Ave. The officer called a lieutenant from the department to the scene, and they determined the computer belonged to The University of Memphis. When the officers attempted to place handcuffs on the man, he became combative and verbally aggressive in an effort to resist arrest, and the officers used a chemical spray to get the handcuffs on the suspect. He was charged with burglary, aggravated criminal trespassing, resisting official detention, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
