I am impressed. In a mere two columns, you (Matt Presson) have managed to demean and insult the majority of the people who attend The U of M. Congratulations.
Most writers would have wasted valuable space trying to substantiate their claims with some sort of logical support. You, however, have resorted to throwing out random, asinine remarks in some middle-school attempt to piss off as many people as possible. The logic you do sparingly use is both self-serving and unsound.
Sound Fuzion does not deserve funding because you do not enjoy it. Art is frivolous because you personally find it distasteful. Using your argument, I should be able to say that since I detest football, it does not deserve funding and should be done away with. Perhaps a better solution for me would be to simply avoid going to the games. If you find the cheese pop of Sound Fuzion to be beneath your high standards, then don't go to the concert. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. However, labeling something you do not like as frivolous because you do not like it is meaningless, circular logic.
I realize that you are probably (hopefully) not completely serious when you hurl this crap at us, but it is offensive nonetheless. Perhaps that is your intention.
However, if you are going to make such harsh, impudent statements, the least you could do is support them with facts. Base your opinions on something other than the voices in your head.
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but the nature of those voices is questionable. Your attitude, "Get rid of it. Why? Because I said so," brings to mind the image of a whiny, snot-nosed, preschooler trying to make a case with that one pathetic argument.
